Lucy Pearson

This is only the second book I have read about submarines. This book was so realistic of the politics of today. It was a page turner that I could not put down and read in one sitting. It was left with a cliffhanger that makes you impatiently waiting the sequel.

Besides being a well-written submarine action novel with a believable conjured plot line, this story involved characters which the author actually gave genuine human assets. All of the military (naval) descriptions were there which very good and the story had plenty of action, but the protagonist and associated characters were gentlemen with reasonable conversations, all easy to follow and interesting. Reading this book was almost like watching a movie and the turns and twists it took delighted me and made me want to nurse the novel so I wouldn't finish it. Yes, the ending left me hanging and impatiently waiting for the sequel which is supposed to be out next Fall. I can hardly wait. I hope this author writes many, many more action novels using his superb style and military imagination. An excellent read!

Being an old Air Force pilot, I don't spend too much time reading novels about our Silent Service. This is not to slight our submariners. They have and still do a great and thankless job. A friend recommended I read Time Bomb Ticking. I did so and rate it right up there with Tom Clancy's HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER. It's hard to put down once you get into it. Very believable, very suspenseful. Believe it or not, it's a first novel by a man whose main interest is farming. Well done, Mr. Laney. Keep pumping them out. I so look forward to your next one.
