Author Laney is responsible for my two nearly sleepless nights. I got so wrapped up in the submarine, USS Charlotte, and its crew on the secret mission into a bay in China, that I just had to keep reading until the end. .As a civilian whose dived aboard several subs and spent a day on another one, I found the accuracy of the terminology — and actions of Charlotte’s commanding officer and other sailors — to be excellent. Another bonus: Charlotte’s Navy SEALs and their mini-sub//underwater delivery vehicle. Washington politicians should read this book! As for the ending appearing to be abrupt, I suspect Laney’s upcoming novel will tie up loose ends from Time Bomb Ticking for which I give a Bravo Zulu.

This is a very good book with several twist and turns within the story. Written as a very practical and possible action in todays chaotic world. The end sequence is a bit of a surprise and I am looking for to the follow-up book.

I found this novel to be a fast paced page turner with lots of unexpected twists. Nice to read a novel where occasionally the “heroes” don’t succeed and/or sometimes actually die. Actually adds a touch of realism missing from most action books. Well done, Mr. Laney. Now onto the second book in the series….. I have a real need to know what is going to happen with the story line!

The story was well developed and kept me engrossed from the beginning. The author’s knowledge of submarines was extensive and believable. This book is a definite page turner. You won’t want to put it down once you start reading. I am really looking forward to the sequel.

I usually do not read suspense books and this one was recommended. I am so glad I read it. I loved it. If I can give up my kindle long enough I have several boys I know will enjoy this book too. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

I started reading this book and became very much involved with the story. It was well written with some nervous moments that added to the suspense. I never thought submarine battles and tactics could be this interesting, but this author most certainly changed my views and looking forward to read more from this author.

Great story line and a real page turner. The plot was excellent and the story moved along very rapidly. The book reads very quickly because of this. You actually don’t want it to end. Look forward to the next novel.

This book is intriguing from start to finish. I already ordered Book 2 of the series and can’t wait to start reading it.
You won’t be sorry you bought this book. I give it 5 stars because it deserves that kind of high rating. I think you’ll agree.

Just finished both books, Time Bomb Ticking and choosing Sides. Have to say I found both of these books to be excellent reads. Well thought out plot lines and both left me wanting more. The first book is almost all military action and the second is a political thriller resulting from the actions in the first book. I cant wait to see a third or even 4th in this series (hint, hint Mr. Laney)

I enjoyed this book immensely. It captures one’s attention from the very first page and the writing style is clear and uncomplicated. I cannot wait for Book 2 to surface!

I really enjoyed this book by Laney. It is an entirely different setting and flow from Time Bomb Ticking, even though it is the sequel. I enjoyed the variety of characters, the military theme, and the creative way of moving one character around. Mr. Laney, park your tractor and write the next book, please. ;-D

Look deep into the story……Fiction, but a great deal of fact…Again, as in the 1st book, I couldn’t wait to get to the last page….Yes, murder and deceit runs through out the book!
A MUST read in my opinion!

It’s important to read the first book (which was excellent) before reading this book. The book had suspense and intrigue. The good guys were easily likable and the bad guys were equally not likable. There are many characters in the book. When the author used first names of the characters I was confused for a moment, but then he referred to them with their last names and it became clear again. A good read.
